"Oh fuck it! You only live once!"
"You only live once. What a sad excuse to throw your life away!"
Most of us just reached our twenties. And, surely, you must have come across the aforementioned quotes. Puts you in a fix, doesn't it?
What life? The one you have been living ever since you stepped into this world? Or the one you have been aiming for ever since you first stepped into a nursery? How many of you believe that your views and ideologies have been the same ever since you stepped into this place called the real world? Didn't it change every time you ventured into an unknown territory? Didn't your views about people, about life, your dreams, your ambitions change with every passing year?
Kindergarten to school, school to junior college, junior college to a degree college; almost all of us have been through these transitions. With every new institution we went to, our nascent life started taking a definitive shape. We met new people, made new friends. Our once frail ambitions started gathering substance. Childhood dreams were left where they belonged, childhood. Knowingly or unknowingly, we prepared ourselves to step into the real world. Summing it up, we matured.
So, getting back on track, have you been living the same life since you were 5, 10, 15, 16, 18 year old? Didn't you lose the friends you thought you will never lose? Didn't you break hearts that you thought you never will? Didn't you have your dreams trashed? Didn't you die a little on your last day in school? Didn't you die a little the day you failed? Didn't you die for a moment when you wanted to talk to someone and you couldn't? Didn't you die several days at a stretch when you realized you could never be with the one you love? Don't you die every moment when things just won't go your way?
What do you do then? You don't just live with it, do you? Living the same old life and dying every moment pondering over it is pointless. How difficult is it to start anew? You have been doing so all this while. A new life with different expectations, renewed emotions, rejuvenated hopes and most important of them all, past experience. A life for your own self, and for the ones that cringe for that curve on your face. After all..
You only live once, don't you?
